Move-In Day

We scored at the Goodwill today! We purchased one ironing board, one coffee maker, and one Brita water pitcher for a grand total of… $10.94! We programmed the coffee maker to brew tomorrow morning’s coffee at 5:00 AM. We’ll have to get up just to see if the programming feature really works. ☺

Yesterday morning we woke up without an agenda and ended up having a vacation day. After Julia woke from her (short) morning nap, we hopped in the car and made a 45-minute drive to the Columbia River Gorge. We exited I-84 in the town of Corbett and opted for Oregon’s historic Highway 30. The first couple of pull-offs offered spectacular views of the gorge and river, while waterfalls awaited us at the rest of the pull-offs. We didn’t realize it when we started, but the Columbia River Gorge boasts the highest concentration of waterfalls in North America. It was amazing how all you had to do was get out of your car and Whoa! There’s a waterfall! We hiked a few short trails, bringing Julia along in the Baby Bjorn. She seemed to be more impressed by the leaves and other green plants along the trails than the waterfalls. We would have driven hours to see the sights we did, and I was continually amazed throughout the day that all this breathtaking scenery lies only 30-miles from a major city! We made it back to the hotel by 7 PM and ended the day with a soak in the hot tub.

Today we watched High Pointe’s service from our hotel room via the world wide Web, and then came to Lionsgate to sign some papers and move in! It took two trips from the hotel to move all of our belongings, and then we went out shopping (first to Goodwill, then to Target). Our furniture doesn’t arrive until tomorrow. Brandon creatively assembled a pallet of pillows and blankets for him to sleep on and graciously let me sleep on the twin air mattress.
